Welcome!

Welcome and mabuhay to the Wikimedia Philippines blog!

Wikimedia Philippines has always found ways to make itself present in the world of the Internet.  We have a large social media presence, with accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Identi.ca, MySpace, Multiply (RIP), Friendster (also RIP), and now, finally, a blog to call our own.  We hope that this will be the place where we will not only post press releases and other important events in detail, but also serve as place where Filipino Wikimedians can reflect on our past and look forward to a brighter future for the Wikimedia movement in the Philippines: a pantheon of memories which can be preserved for posterity.

We hope that this blog will serve as an effective resource for informing the Filipino Wikimedia community (editors, WMPH members, strategic partners and the like), both with the Philippines and among Filipino communities abroad, about the latest Wikimedia developments in the Philippines, and about the movement in general.  Through this, we hope to engage everyone involved in shaping the course towards imagining a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

After all, that is our commitment.

But to do this, we need to know where we have been, where we are, and where we need to go.  As we say, ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.

Thanks and we hope you have a wonderful time reading through the entries.  Don’t forget to follow our RSS feed for the latest updates. 🙂
